Mindfulness is essentially being intentionally and fully focused on the present moment. Eliminate the idea of trying to focus on two or more things at once. When we practice mindfulness we want to focus 100% of our attention on one thing at a time.
Did you know that mindfulness is the birthplace of contentment? When we live in the past or the future, we are not enjoying the present. To be mindful is to be fully engaged in what is before you in the present moment. Research shows that people who can live in the present moment are happier, healthier, and less stressed.
How do you get started? Stop right now, take in a deep breath in, and as you exhale out...purposefully let go of all the distractions pulling at you. Then say a prayer thanking God for this very moment you have to be alive and spend with Him. Breathe in & out and go about your day.
